Appointed Local School Councils:
All
Chicago Public schools have a Local School Council (LSC) that acts as a
school-based governing board. These Councils are responsible primarily
for hiring the school principal and approving the school's budget.
Lindblom's ALSC, however, functions slightly differently than a
traditional LSC. As an appointed school council, the governing body acts
in an advisory capacity to the principal, providing input in
school-related needs, but does not govern with the same authority to
hire the principal and make budgetary decisions as a traditional LSC.
Council Membership:
Council Membership:
Lindblom’s
School Council consists of 12 members including representatives from
each community group: 6 parents of school students, 2 members from the
community, 2 teachers, and 1 student. Because of its corporate
partnership, Lindblom’s ALCS has 2 members from Baxter International who
provide expertise in biotechnology on the council.
