Alan W. Mather (Principal) grew up in rural southern Indiana and went to the University of Evansville on a track/cross country scholarship. He received his B.A in 1986 and hitchhiked up to Chicago where he began teaching English and coaching at Farragut Career Academy. From there he moved to Westinghouse and Schurz High Schools. During his time at Schurz, Alan completed his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Northeastern Illinois University and joined the first LAUNCH class in 1998. During the LAUNCH internship, Mr. Mather was hired to help plan for and open Northside College Prep High School. In three short years it took its place as the top school in Illinois. Mr. Mather feels extremely lucky to have a second go around at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open a new school at Lindblom.

John Roberson (Chairperson) is a lifelong Chicagoan and is a 1987 graduate of Lindblom. John’s passion for public service led him to join the U.S. Air Force where he served with the F-117A Stealth Fighter Unit. John also is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He continued his public service by serving in the administration of Mayor Richard M. Daley where he held a number of senior executive cabinet positions including Commissioner of Aviation, Commissioner of Buildings and Commissioner of Sewers. Mr. Roberson has worked in the private sector as the CEO of a strategic sourcing and supplier diversity consulting firm and has been an entrepreneur, owning and operating a food franchise. Mr. Roberson is currently the Executive Vice President of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center where he helps to identify service and fund high growth companies in the areas of alternative energy, technology and consumer products and services. John attended Roosevelt University majoring in political science and economics. He is the parent of John C. Roberson, Lindblom Class of 2013.

Dr. Linda S. Upshaw (Vice-Chairperson) previously taught in the Chicago Public Schools system for six years and subsequently transitioned to become a CPS vendor working as an Education Consultant. She has been a parent volunteer for several years, serving on both the No Child Left Behind Title I Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and the Illinois Alliance for School Based Problem Solving and Intervention Resources in Education (ASPIRE) Committee on the elementary level. Linda received her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Foundations and currently works as an adjunct professor and part-time university faculty instructional support specialist. She is the parent of a senior, Jonathan Upshaw- Swoop, Swoop!
